| Now and then we hear or read about celebrities. The number of celebrities in show business has grown due, to a great extent, to the massive scope and scale of the media industries featuring celebs' lives andprofessional achievements and enabling them to be viewed more often and in more places.
Talent, popularity and not much education would be enough to make you a celebrity with a huge back account. At times, the profit celebs gain from movies or albums does not depend on talent. There are thousands of performers who are, obviously, much more talented than many of the celebs we admire and gossip about. Yet, their names, if printed, would appear in small print.
The hottest and most talented figures in show business make millions per movie or album. The Hottest denotes they are in demand. The Most gifted denotes they are the best in showbiz, for they have demonstrated a first class.
Being in the public eye, they become role models for ordinary people. Often they set a negative example for their fans. In fact, the influence that celebrities have on ordinary people is tremendous. Plenty of young girls do their best to look like celebrities and starve to death. People try to imitate celebs, which often leads to substance abuse, explicit conduct and arrests. They often find their lives dull and uneventful compared to celebrities' and try to behave the way they do to spice up their lives.
Celebs' heute couture garments, jewels, perfect tan and makeup make ordinary people feel humble, which leads to the inferiority complex.
Another impact celebrities have on our culture is that of invading one's privacy. Nothing is concealed anymore. Paparazzi trace their every move and that seems to intrude their right to privacy. They seem to be willing to risk anything to get a picture, which is a negative influence for our culture.
Nevertheless, some celebrities set a positive example by raising money for charity, helping seriously sick children, promoting a healthy animation-flair among teenagers.
We should not idealize celebs, because they have both positive and negative personality traits, and are imperfect, too. |
